Description
K&N is primarily known for its High-Flow Air Filters, which pioneered the use of oiled cotton media instead of the traditional disposable paper found in most vehicles.
Here is a breakdown of the product’s design, performance, and key considerations.
## Core Product Features
Layered Cotton Media: Unlike paper filters that block air through tight fibers, K&N uses 4 to 6 layers of pleated cotton gauze. This allows for significantly more surface area.
Oiled Filtration: The cotton is treated with a specialized red oil (tacking agent). This oil creates a “tacky” web that captures dirt particles while allowing air to pass through the gaps in the cotton fibers more freely.
Washable and Reusable: These filters are designed to be the “last filter you’ll ever buy.” When they get dirty, you wash them with a cleaning kit, re-oil them, and reinstall them.
Drop-In Fit: Most K&N filters are “OE Replacement,” meaning they are shaped exactly like your factory filter and require no tools or modifications to install.
